The Artist
Celesty Claudio’s earliest memories are painted with the lush colors and rich textures of Puerto Rico, her Caribbean homeland. The island’s vibrant landscapes, sun-drenched waters, and fragrant air awaken her artistic senses and shape her vision. Today, as a full-time artist living in Sedona, Arizona, she finds the dramatic Red Rock country equally captivating, a new muse for her ever-evolving work.
Though she has been painting for decades, Celesty only recently discovered the style that fully captures her creative spirit: abstract expressionism. She sees the world in silhouettes—figures, emotions, fleeting moments—filled with layers of color and texture on a canvas. Her brushstrokes carry movement, energy, and even a sense of air itself, creating works that pulse with life.
Her paintings capture both nature and human emotion, weaving together the landscapes of Puerto Rico with the desert vistas of Arizona. They tell stories of passion, romance, maternity, and the tender bonds between mother and daughter, reflecting both the world around her and the inner life she has lived.
Celesty’s talent was recognized early. By age five, she was already receiving honors for her skill in realism, and by ten, she began private lessons, experimenting with ever more vivid colors and complex textures. Years of practice and dedication have culminated in works that convey powerful emotion, offering viewers a window into her personal and artistic journey.
“The Caribbean fills my senses with unforgettable impressions—scents, sounds, and colors that continue to inspire me,” Celesty says. Those experiences flow into her canvas, just as the awe-inspiring beauty of Arizona shapes her work today. After years in the resort management industry, Celesty embraced her art full-time. Now settled in Sedona with her husband and two children, she feels the landscape’s inspiration daily. “Sedona is a place like no other, where countless artists have been transformed. It is the most uniquely beautiful site on earth,” she adds.
