First Art Workshops with artist Victor Torres Lizardi at Age 10
Abstract Techniques Workshop with artist Hector Escalante Rivera, 2004
Nature’s beauty and richness heightened a native of Puerto Rico, a Caribbean island rich in color and inspiration, Celesty Claudio's artistic senses and emotions. Now a full-time artist and resident of Sedona, Celesty finds the beautiful Red Rock country of Northern Arizona to be equally inspiring.
While the artistic history of Celesty spans several decades, she only recently discovered the style that fully satisfies her need to create: abstract expressionism. She sees the world in silhouettes, an outline of emotions, somebody or something filled in with colors and textures on a canvas background. Her technique highlights the flow of vibrant colors, textures, and waves of air in the paint.
Celesty’s paintings reflect surrounding nature as well as human emotions such as passion or maternity. They are the story of her life, from Puerto Rico's rich colors to Arizona desert landscaping and moon to the stages of her life such as pregnancy, romance, and mother-daughter bonding.
Recognized for her talent since the age of five she was frequently honored for her dedication and command of realism. Private lessons commenced shortly after the age of ten as she continuously explored a wide variety of colors and textures. The many years of practice have certainly been rewarded in the powerful feelings now conveyed in her unique visual expressions.
“The lush countryside and magnificent waters of the Caribe captured unforgettable scents and sounds like no other,” says Celesty. As with many artists, these impressions were ultimately translated to canvas. It is this evolution that we all know to be common to the greatest and most innovative artists of our time. After combining her art with several years of success in the resort management industry Celesty is now a full-time artist and resident of Sedona. Arriving recently, with her husband and two children, she feels that the stunning Red Rock country of Northern Arizona has been equally inspiring. “A place like no other, where countless artists have been transformed, Sedona is the most uniquely beautiful site on earth!"
